How To Reach Inactive Members/Evangelism Training March 2012

Evangelism Training, March 2012

This past November five of our members at Reformation Lutheran Church in New Bern, NC, attended the Revitalization Conference at Lake Junaluska. At the conference, we teamed up with Pastor David Hefner, who was the pastor of Reformation Lutheran Church in PA, since he was the only attendee from his church. We found the conference spiritual, uplifting, and motivating. At the end of the training, we talked about getting together when we returned to New Bern to discuss how to implement some of the ideas at Reformation. Within a few weeks, the Revitalization attendees met and came up with some ideas. These ideas were presented to the church council and agreed upon. Since Pastor Hefner offered to drive to New Bern to provide the Evangelism Training, we were excited to use him as our trainer.

The date was set for Saturday March 3rd and began at 9:00 a.m. for a six hour training session. We were blessed by St. Bartholomew Anglican Church, who has been a great help to our mission congregation in many ways, including joint worship at Advent. They gave us full use of their church and even had one of their members attend our training. Pastor Hefner provided some very good information and delivered it in a way that kept everyone’s attention.

We expect this to be just the beginning of our training as we learn how to be a better mission outreach church and better at sharing our faith.
