NALC/CMD Disaster Response: Hurricane Florence

Hurricane Florence is projected to make landfall along our coastline tomorrow. Mary Bates, the NALC’s Disaster Response Coordinator, will be bringing more than 1000 flood buckets and 1000 health kits from the Ohio area to supplement our current collection at the St. John’s warehouse. At this point, St. John’s will serve as the primary staging area, with distribution sites to be determined. Mary and Pr. Ernie Sheldon, the CMD Disaster Response Coordinator, are requesting that congregations limit their material donations to bottled water, Bibles, and the flood buckets/cleaning supplies, health kits, and school kits described in the document below. No clothes donations are required at this time.

NALC Disaster Response Kits

Please coordinate your collection efforts with St. John’s Disaster Response Team and Pr. Ernie Sheldon at (828) 612-6439. While St. John’s prefers that each congregation handle the transport of its donations if possible, they are willing to help with the collection if necessary. Please bring all material donations to:

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church
740 N. Center Street
Statesville, NC
Pr. Ernie Sheldon: (828) 612-6439

Gift cards (Lowes and Home Depot) should be designated “NALC Disaster Response” and mailed to St. John’s at:

St. John’s Lutheran Church
740 N. Center Street
Statesville, NC 28677

Monetary donations (100% of which will go to Hurricane Florence relief) may be made directly online to NALC Disaster Response.
