Luke 1_46

Luke 1:39-56

From the book Windows of the Soul: A story is told of a pagan who asked a rabbi, “Why did God speak to Moses from the thorn bush?” For the pagan thought God should have spoken instead in a peal of thunder on the peak of some majestic mountain. The rabbi answered, “To teach you that there is no place on Earth where God’s glory is not, not even in a humble thorn bush.” 1

The last place Mary was expecting to find God was in her womb. But there, as she was in the presence of her cousin Elizabeth, with Elizabeth being pregnant with John, the baby in her cousin’s womb leapt with joy when Mary entered the room.

Both Mary and Elizabeth are in total shock. God had visited both of them in a miraculous way. Elizabeth in her old age conceiving John and Mary, a virgin, now pregnant with Jesus. Don’t you think our Father God chuckled when these two women met!

Prayer: Lord, help me to be available for your use no matter what time of the day or night. Amen.

Today’s devotion was written by Thomas W. Corbell, Pastor of  Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church in Statesville, NC.
