The audacity of it all! An unclean woman, dared to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment. Jesus was not sure who it was that touched him. When he found out, she was not chastised; she was not assaulted. The only consequence that followed for her bold move of faith was that she was healed immediately. Faith alone, in him, had made her whole.
Jairus’ faith was such that he knew that if Jesus would come just and lay his hands on his dying daughter that she would live. Indeed, she did. Jesus took her by the hand and told her to get up. Immediately, she did. She got up and she lived.
Faith has a tendency to change things, immediately. We may not always see the results with our eyes immediately, but faith reminds us that God has indeed heard our prayers and answered. Faith can change our whole outlook on life and our attitudes immediately. In faith, we are able to live and act boldly knowing that no matter whom we are or what we’ve done, Jesus has the power to heal all wounds. In him, we have been made whole.
Prayer: We give you thanks, Lord, for in your mercy you have heard our prayers and answered through Jesus Christ. Amen.
