Gal 5_14

Isaiah 54:1-10, Galatians 5:1-15, Mark 8:27-9:1

Isaiah reminds us that our God is a God of Compassion, whose steadfast love shall not depart from us. Because of his love for his people, and remaining true to his promise, God will not withdraw his covenant of peace. God’s love endures.

Paul tells us in Galatians that, because of God’s love, Christ has set us free. Therefore, we should use that freedom through love to serve one another. Jesus takes it further in Mark’s gospel, teaching us that we should set our minds on the things of God and not the things that are of man. He says that we should take up our cross and follow him. There is nothing that we have or can do that will save our souls. Only faith in Christ and a steadfast love will save us, and that comes through his grace, forgiveness and love.

Prayer: Gracious God, lead us to live out this day your love by serving one another. Amen.
