Mark 2_5

Mark 2:1-12

People place faith in many things and question many things. For example, often people question their faith in God while at the same time having unabashed faith in politicians and the political parties they represent. However, here in Mark we see faith on a great level. The friends of the paralytic could not reach Jesus in any conventional way so they took to the unconventional. They understood that Christ was the only hope for their friend. After tearing open the roof, they lowered their friend into the room and the rest, as they say, is history.

If only we could muster this type of desire to get to Jesus. At all costs, overcoming every obstacle placed in the way; never giving up till we have reached Jesus. All too often we let even the most minor of things get in the way of our walk of discipleship and faith in Christ. The intestinal fortitude of these followers of Jesus should stand as an example. As a new year begins let us tear through the proverbial roof that stands in the way of us reaching Christ and lower every need to Jesus.

Prayer: Father, help us to be bold in striving for Christ.
