Luke 10:25-28, 38-42

“But only one thing is need is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken from her.” (Mark 10:42)

Mary sat at the feet of Jesus and listened. The Word in the form of the Word made flesh was her priority at that given moment and all else flowed and flows from the faith formed by sitting at the feet of the Lord and hearing his voice and call.

I just returned from leading a Strong Bonds Couples Marriage enrichment retreat for 14 great American Soldiers and their spouses. We spoke of the unique differences between men and women, how to forgive, how to avoid bitterness, how to meet the sexual needs of your husband/wife etc. I shared with them however, that for me, it all starts with God. It all starts with spending time at the feet of Jesus, from spending time in prayer and reading and hearing the Word. Because I carve out the time to sit at the feet of Jesus, I shared, I keep the rest of life in perspective, because I am intentional about spending time at the feet of Jesus. I shared, my priorities are 1. God, 2.my wife, 3.my children, 4.all else.

Prayer: Lord, in the midst of busy lives, help us prioritize, being intentional about spending time with you, at your feet, in your Word. Amen.
